SYNOPSIS
La Grazia, directed by Paolo Sorrentino, stars Mariano De Santis, the President of the Italian Republic (a fictional character entirely created by the author, with no reference to any existing president).
A widower and a Catholic man, De Santis has a daughter, Dorotea, a legal scholar like himself. As his term in office draws to an end, amid the monotony of his final days, he faces two last and delicate responsibilities: deciding on two requests for presidential pardon. They are true moral dilemmas, ones that become seemingly inseparable from his own private life.
Guided by doubt and a profound sense of responsibility, he must make his decision. And it is with the full weight of his role and conscience that this great President of the Italian Republic will ultimately choose his path.
Alongside the two main protagonists, Toni Servillo and Anna Ferzetti, who portray the President of the Republic and his daughter, the cast also includes Orlando Cinque, Massimo Venturiello, Milvia Marigliano, Giuseppe Gaiani, Giovanna Guida, Alessia Giuliani, Roberto Zibetti, Vasco Mirandola, Linda Messerklinger, and Rufin Doh Zeyenouin.
