SYNOPSIS
Alla Festa della Rivoluzione, directed by Arnaldo Catinari, tells the story of the Fiume enterprise (1919–1920), which was far more than a political or military act. It was an explosion of experiences, ideals, and provocations—a crossroads of rebellion and utopia where Futurism, transgression, revolutionary dreams, and anarchic spirit came together.
Led by Gabriele D’Annunzio, the poet-soldier, the occupation of Fiume transformed into a feverish carnival where play and war became intertwined, and the occupied city turned into the stage for a theatrical, irreverent, and visionary revolution. Fiume became a laboratory for a new world, a precursor to future movements, echoing the spirit of events such as 1968. During that suspended season between euphoria and chaos, free sexuality, avant-garde art, anti-militarism, and a form of political piracy that challenged every established rule were celebrated.
Against this incandescent backdrop unfolds the story of three fictional characters deeply intertwined with historical events: Beatrice, a spy working for revolutionary Russia; Pietro, head of Italian intelligence; and Giulio, a deserter and anarchist.
When, on the day of D’Annunzio’s inauguration, an assassination attempt threatens his life, the three become involved in an intrigue that goes far beyond politics.
Through impossible loves, personal vendettas, and unexpected alliances, their search for the truth becomes intertwined with the fate of Fiume and Italy itself—a country suspended between the temptation of dictatorship and the dream of revolution.
